I Heart Texas...Except...

Welll It's been a couple weeks here in Texas and I must say I am liking it a lot more then Cali! I feel more at home here and being only a 2 day drive and one hour time difference away from my family makes me feel much closer to them!

We have gone out downtown a couple of times to experience the fabulous Austin night life and it is pretty fantastic...I mean look how awesome it looks!

As far as the real reason that I am here...to work..it could be better. The hospital actually isn't too bad. Same types of patients...similar equipment...just one HUGE downfall...

PAPER CHARTING!!!

I mean seriously?!?! It is the year 2011 and I am working at DELL Children's Hospital..Dell like those computer people...and we are PAPER charting?!?!?! RIDICULOUS!!

And some doctor thinks this is safer??? Let me just tell you sir that this is ludicris and just completely bananas! I can't even read the writing of the nurse before me to see what happened with my patient during the day...how is that safe??? People calculate the intake and output wrong all the time...how is that safe?? When you order a new medication someone just hand writes it into the medication chart and we all hope it is right...how is that safe??? BANANAS!!!

But such is the life of a travel nurse....

At least I have some FABULOUS peeps traveling with me and suffering through the writers cramp after a 12 hour shift along side me!

That is all for now...I must gear up for another 12 hours of novel writing!

Peace out kids!

I am already loving it more then I did Cali...I think Texas is much more my style!

For now let me just show you our absolutely amazing apt!

2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, huge bedroom with walk in closets (yes there are 2!) and a huge bathtub!!

LOVE IT!!

Tomorrow night is our second night of orientation so I will update more about the job after that!

I have a feeling it's gonna be an amazing 13 weeks!!
