Eurpean Adventure Part 1...Aachen and Cologne

Well ladies and gents...I know you are all just DYING to hear about my lovely Eurpoean adventure. I bet you have all been stalking this site just waiting for my post since I came back!

I have decided to make my post in parts because let's face it I don't have the attention span to sit and write one loooong post about the whole trip...

We will start with the first part of the trip in Germany...

Steph and I flew out of Toronto Canada on our direct flight to Dusseldorf...We were in LOVE with our plane...and the fact that we got our own individual tv screens to watch movies!

Our flight went off without a hitch and we arrived safely in Dusseldorf where Courtney's boyfriend Enno was going to pick us up...when we walked out of the airport we noticed that all the taxi cabs were Mercedes! Holy crapola!!

We wandered around Dusseldorf for a bit and saw that city, ate some food, and finally took the train to see Courtney in Aachen!!

Steph and I were SUPER jet-lagged but we forced ourselves to not nap and to stay awake to try and adjust...what better way to stay awake?? Take a walking tour of Aachen! Steph was in LOVE with Charlamagne and everything to do with him...she even read aloud to us from the walking tour book...and had to pose with his statue...

Aachen is a very cute city with lots of character. It was a struggle that first day to wander around because of how tired we were but we made it through and Courtney ended the day by making us a lovely German meal...complete with Schnitzel and noodles that I forget what they are called...notice the box of schnitzel called Weiner Art...cute huh??? We also tried to make America shots...the pics make it look like they turned out all cutsy but I'm here to tell you they did not!

Day 2 was just a day hanging out in Aachen...Courtney had a test in her German language class...she said it was hard...and her day was made worse when she got hit by a car while riding her bike on the way home! That definitely called for some day drinking!

We tried to have a cook out with people from Courtney's class but the weather did not cooperate...at least we were still able to go out that night to the karaoke bar and hang out with Courtney's awesome friends! And in Germany you can just walk down the street drinking on the way to the bar! We loved it! Courtney loved it so much that it looks like she peed her pants at the end of the night...

The next day it was off to Cologne to explore another part of Germany...we saw the huge cathedral, the bridge where you buy a lock for you and your significant other...or for the Twilight characters...and just wander down the adorable little streets of Germany...

After Cologne we took the train back to Aachen...and went to the grocery store to pick up some snacks for the train to Paris...I think we should have gotten the teddy bear shaped lunch meat...but alas it stayed on the grocery store shelf...

After loading up our suitcases...or in Steph's case backpacks...

We were off on our train to Paris!! Complete with wine and delish sammy's!

Stand by for part 2 where we explore the lovely and sometimes awful city that is PARIS!!
